Feedback & Complaints

Last updated

HeadLines Decoded welcomes corrections, questions, and complaints. Clarity depends on readers telling us when something is wrong, incomplete, or unfair. This page explains how to reach the newsroom, what to include, and what we do after we hear from you.

Feedback on any of our work, whether it is a fact, the framing, a headline, or how we labelled opinion versus reporting, belongs here.

How to reach us

  • Corrections and factual errors. Use our Contact form or the correction route it offers. Email creates a clear record, which is what a correction needs.
  • General questions and story ideas. The same Contact form reaches the newsroom. If you want us to decode something, our Decode This For Me page is built for exactly that.
  • Formal complaints. Tell us plainly that you are making a complaint, and about which article, so we can treat it as one.

What to include

The more specific you are, the faster we can act. Where you can, tell us the article and the exact passage, what you believe is wrong or unfair, and any source that supports your point. A link to the primary evidence is the single most useful thing you can send.

What we do after you write

  • We read every good-faith message. A newsroom that asks to be held to account has to actually listen.
  • If you have flagged a factual error, we check it against the record. If we are wrong, we correct it promptly and in the open, per our Corrections Policy.
  • If it is a matter of framing or fairness, we weigh it honestly, and we are willing to revise, add context, or explain our reasoning.
  • If we conclude the work was right, we will tell you that too, and why.

We cannot promise to agree with every complaint, but we can promise to take it seriously and to be honest with you about the outcome.
