Ownership & Funding
Last updated
HeadLines Decoded publishes independent reporting and explainers across Disney parks and experiences, film and entertainment, health and wellness, practical preparedness, and politics explained in plain language. This page states plainly who owns us, how we are funded, and which relationships could bear on our work. We keep it current so you can judge our incentives for yourself.
Ownership
HeadLines Decoded is operated as HeadLines Decoded, LLC, which is wholly owned by Koda Apps, LLC. It is not a subsidiary of, or affiliated with, any media conglomerate, and it is not owned by any of the companies, studios, or brands we cover. Editorial control of the newsroom rests with the Editor-in-Chief, Todd Ruffner-Schoenfeld.
Funding
HeadLines Decoded is currently funded entirely by its parent, Koda Apps, LLC. We do not charge for access, run a paywall, or sell subscriptions. Our goal is to move toward advertising as the primary way the publication supports itself. We are not there yet, and when advertising does arrive we will label it clearly and keep it separate from editorial. If that ever changes the picture in a way readers should know about, this page changes first.
What we do not take
- We do not accept payment to publish, alter, or suppress a story. Coverage is never for sale.
- We do not let advertisers, sponsors, or business partners review or approve editorial content before it runs.
- If we ever accept a comped ticket, review unit, press trip, or anything of value connected to a story, we disclose it in that story.
Relationships worth disclosing
We cover Disney parks and entertainment closely, and honesty requires us to name our connection to that beat. HeadLines Decoded is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by The Walt Disney Company in any way. Our founder and Editor-in-Chief is a former Disney cast member. That history informs our familiarity with the parks; it does not soften our coverage, and it earns Disney no special treatment. We hold the companies we know best to the same standard as everyone else.
Keeping this honest
Independence is easy to claim and easy to lose. We treat this page as a live commitment, not a one-time disclosure. If our ownership, our funding, or a material relationship changes, we update this page promptly and note when it last changed. For how these commitments show up in the journalism itself, see our Ethics Policy and our full standards.
