Video Appears to Show Lucki Injured Outside ComplexCon
Los Angeles police confirmed that four people were hurt in an apparent knife attack near the convention center. Police did not identify the victims, name a suspect or announce an arrest.
Updated October 6, 2026: Lucki appeared on Instagram Monday with bandages along his jaw and upper neck. TMZ reported that he had left the hospital. Los Angeles police still had not publicly named a suspect or announced an arrest.
A short video from outside ComplexCon appears to show the Chicago rapper Lucki with a wound near his jaw. If you’ve seen the clip online, you’ve probably also seen captions that claim to explain what happened. Most of those claims go further than the facts available so far.
Los Angeles police confirmed to the Los Angeles Times that four people were injured in an apparent knife attack near the Los Angeles Convention Center on Saturday, October 3. Police did not identify Lucki as one of those people. They also did not connect Playboi Carti, who can be seen nearby in video from the scene, to the violence.
The footage does not show who hurt Lucki, what caused his wound or why the fight began.
The police account
Officers responded at about 4:45 p.m. to the area of Chick Hearn Court and Georgia Street, according to the Times. A fight was still underway when they arrived.
Police said two people were taken to a hospital with injuries that appeared to have come from a knife attack. A third person went to a hospital separately with a severe laceration. A fourth had a cut on an elbow and declined treatment. Police did not release the victims’ names or describe their conditions beyond those initial details.
Those four descriptions cannot be matched to four people in the videos just by comparing the injuries. One person reached a hospital without an ambulance, and another declined treatment. Until police release names or a fuller report, it would be guesswork to decide which description belongs to Lucki.
TMZ reported, citing unnamed law-enforcement sources, that detectives were treating the case as an attempted-murder investigation. That is an attributed report, not a criminal charge or a finding by a court. The Times reported Sunday evening that police had provided no additional information.
Lucki in the video
Separate clips published by news outlets show a fight near parked cars and a man who appears to be Lucki with blood around the lower part of his face. Another clip appears to show him getting into a Mercedes-Maybach.
A video can show the location of a wound without showing how it happened. In the clips reviewed for this story, the view is crowded, brief and partly blocked. There is no clear view of a weapon making contact with Lucki.
Lucki gave the clearest update himself on Monday. In an Instagram video, he showed bandages along his jaw and upper neck. He said he did not know what happened because there was “a lot going on.” TMZ reported that he had left the hospital.
Lucki also asked Los Angeles police to return his car. He said his debit cards and $100,000 in cash were inside. That amount is his claim; it has not been independently verified.
The video gives a clearer look at how Lucki was doing, but it does not solve the case. It does not identify the person who hurt him or show what caused the wound. Police still have not publicly said whether he was one of the four injured people they described or why his car was being held.
Playboi Carti at the scene
Video also appears to show Playboi Carti watching from a vehicle. It does not show him taking part in the fight. Police have not accused him of doing so, and no verified evidence published by the outlets reviewed for this story shows that he struck Lucki or ordered anyone else to attack him.
The two names were quickly paired in social posts, helped along by older online tension between the artists. That history does not prove a motive for Saturday’s violence. Repeating it as an explanation would turn an old disagreement into evidence it is not.
What ComplexCon said
ComplexCon said it was aware of the incident and that it occurred outside the event. The organizers said on-site security and Los Angeles police responded and that public safety remained their priority. The statement did not identify the people involved or explain what led to the fight.
Several basic questions remain unanswered: who injured Lucki, what caused his wound, who injured the other people and whether investigators have identified any suspects. Until police or the people involved provide reliable answers, the clips should not be stretched beyond what they show.
A caption can get ahead of the facts in a story moving this quickly. Our verification policy treats a viral clip as a lead that still needs independent confirmation. What can be confirmed is still limited: violence occurred outside ComplexCon, four people were hurt and Lucki later appeared online with bandages near his jaw and neck. The complete account of Lucki’s injury, and who was responsible for it, has not been made public.
