Hurly-Burly opens at Disney’s BoardWalk in the old Jellyrolls piano bar

I am a former cast member and a fan of Jellyrolls' dueling pianos. Hurly-Burly opened Oct. 1 in that room: all ages until 9 p.m., 21 and older after that, with tables handed out from a walk-up list in the app.

As of Oct. 1, 2026: Hurly-Burly, a new bar and live-music club, opened Thursday, Oct. 1, on Walt Disney World’s 55th anniversary. It sits in the old Jellyrolls piano bar on Disney’s BoardWalk, a seaside-style strip of shops and clubs on a lake beside Epcot. The indoor club runs 4 p.m. to 1 a.m., and a to-go window outside opens at 11 a.m. There are no reservations: you join a walk-up list in the My Disney Experience app, and joining does not guarantee a seat. Jellyrolls played its last BoardWalk night on April 19, 2025.

I am a former cast member, which is what Disney calls its employees, and I was a fan of the old dueling pianos. Jellyrolls was loud in the right way. You shouted out a song, one of the two piano players took it, and for a couple of hours the BoardWalk felt like it belonged to the adults who had already done the parks. I am hoping Hurly-Burly can stand on its own. It has to. The pianos are not in the new show.

The grown-up nightlife Disney World has lost

Disney adults needed a room like Jellyrolls. I mean the grown-ups who come for themselves, kids or no kids. Pleasure Island, Disney’s old nightclub district, used to be the place you went when the kids were asleep or you never brought them. It had the West End Stage for bands, the Adventurers Club, where actors played eccentric explorers in a make-believe clubhouse, and a comedy club. One cover charge and a hand stamp got you into every club. When that island’s nightclubs closed in 2008, and the Downtown Disney shopping area around it later became Disney Springs, there were fewer places to go late at night. A few bars held on, and some restaurants put a singer in the corner, but a place built just for a night out got harder to find. BoardWalk was one of the last spots on Disney property where a grown-up could walk in for live music, and then Jellyrolls closed. Now Atlantic Dance Hall, the dance club down the BoardWalk, is done with its regular weekend nights too. Starting Oct. 1, it opens only for private events.

How a night at Hurly-Burly works

Disney themed the room as a historic seaside theater, Atlantic City and Coney Island more than Magic Kingdom’s Main Street. The story Disney tells is that this was the best vaudeville house on the BoardWalk nearly a hundred years ago, and it has just reopened. The Orlando Sentinel’s first look, published Sept. 30, describes light bites, drinks, and all-ages trivia and Disney music bingo in the afternoon. At 9 p.m. anyone under 21 has to leave. From then until 1 a.m. it is cocktails and live music, a different style of music each night.

You do not need a park ticket to walk onto the BoardWalk. You cannot book a table ahead, though, the way you can at most Disney restaurants. WDW News Today, a Disney fan news site, reported on Sept. 30 that Disney’s phone app, My Disney Experience, already had a “Join Walk-Up List” button on the Hurly-Burly page. Once you join from the app, stay on the BoardWalk and wait for it to tell you a table is ready. The list only takes people who are nearby, and getting on it is not a promise you get in. If you only want something for the walk to the International Gateway, Epcot’s back entrance, a to-go window on the promenade pours a few of the drinks from 11 a.m., including the Caramel Corn Cold Brew and a cherry lemonade called the Cherry Marquee.

Disney has posted the Hurly-Burly menu with prices. According to the Orlando Sentinel, small bites run $11 to $21 and most cocktails are $18 to $20. A brand-new club can change its menu and prices in the first few weeks, so check the app before you go.

Jellyrolls plans to reopen off Disney property

Jellyrolls opened on the BoardWalk in 1996 and closed there in April 2025, a run of almost thirty years. The Orlando Sentinel reported this spring that Jellyrolls’ owners, an outside company that ran the bar on Disney’s BoardWalk, plan to open a new Jellyrolls in Lake Buena Vista, just outside Disney property and less than 10 minutes from the old spot. The owners say it will have free parking, a drop-off spot for Uber and Lyft, better sound and the same popcorn Jellyrolls served. As of the Sentinel’s Sept. 30 story, the owners still had not announced an opening date.

My test for Hurly-Burly

Can the new club give grown-ups a night of their own? After 9 it is 21 and older until closing. That starts an hour later than Trader Sam’s, the little tiki bar at Disney’s Polynesian hotel, which turns adults-only at 8, but four grown-up hours is still a real night out. The afternoon trivia is for families, and Disney already does that well. Whether the after-9 crowd can fill a room that used to sing along with two pianos is something I will not know until I have stood in it. With the walk-up list, I cannot just book a table and find out. I have to be out on the BoardWalk, phone in hand, waiting for the app to call me in.
