Hong Kong Disneyland’s Spider-Man Ride: What We Know So Far

Walk into Hong Kong Disneyland’s Tomorrowland this summer and the old Tomorrowland Stage sits dark behind gray tarps. Construction walls run from Space Traders down to the Expo Shop. Cranes stand where the stage show used to play. This is the first solid, physical sign that the Spider-Man ride Disney announced back in 2024 is now being built, and it has taken the better part of two years to reach this exciting point.

The pitch came at D23 in August 2024, when Josh D’Amaro unveiled an extended Marvel area for Tomorrowland with a new Spider-Man attraction at its center. Disney’s official press release lays out the plot. Peter Parker is a Stark Industries intern, tapped to demonstrate the latest breakthrough at the Stark Expo. Then a formidable villain turns up and wreaks havoc, with guests caught in the middle. New entertainment, shopping and dining come bundled in, and Disney frames the whole thing as its third major Marvel addition to the park. Disney is keeping some surprises in reserve, including what kind of ride this is, when it opens, and which villain shows up.

Hong Kong’s Marvel habit

This is not Hong Kong’s first Marvel bet. The park has leaned on the Avengers harder than any other Disney resort. Iron Man Experience opened in 2017, the first Marvel ride at any Disney park anywhere. Ant-Man and The Wasp: Nano Battle followed in 2019. Both sit in the same Stark Expo pocket of Tomorrowland, both exclusive to Hong Kong, and both have carried the resort through leaner years. Spider-Man makes three. For a park that has grown its lineup of headline rides over time, Marvel has been a dependable draw, and a third one is a thrilling addition.

A tower takes shape

In September 2025 Disney released fresh concept art, and it sharpened the picture. The art shows a tall, futuristic tower crowded with heroes, Spider-Man alongside Doctor Strange, Thor and Black Panther, billed as a new pavilion for the Stark Expo. Theme-park writers took one look and called it a drop tower, comparing it to the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror and Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout. Disney’s own caption stays upbeat, inviting guests to team up with the Avengers for an unexpected adventure in a thrilling new Marvel-themed experience. The ride system is one detail still to be revealed.

The Spider-Man ride takes the slot once floated for a larger Avengers flying attraction that did not move forward. Its arrival gives that space an exciting new future.

Construction begins

The visible work is genuinely new. In January 2026 the Tomorrowland Stage screen went dark and cranes appeared behind it, on the ground where the old show once ran. By April, demolition was properly underway, tarps and walls sealing the whole zone off. Seeing a fence around the site is a thrilling milestone for fans who have been following along.

Compared with the other projects revealed that weekend, Disney has shared fewer details on this one so far, and an opening date has not been announced yet. It holds a spot on Disney’s official expansions list. Outside estimates point to 2026 or 2027, and those remain estimates rather than official dates. All of that leaves plenty to look forward to as more news arrives.
